How does it work?

Video Lessons


All grammar and vocabulary lessons are taught via recorded video instruction. Your child can watch on his/her own schedule. They can pause, rewind, and rewatch videos as needed.


Exercises


After each video lesson there are a series of exercises your child will accomplish. These reinforce the lesson learned and give actual experience with the language. From there we grow into translating Latin.


Group Translating


Every week we meet together online as a class to work on group translations. This a 45-minute small group session where we dive deep into real Latin authors and discuss the culture, history, and people of Rome.

Kyle Brown


I have a deep love and appreciation for the Latin language and Roman history, and I've been blessed with the opportunity to teach these classes in a variety of settings. I've taught Latin to all types of students, from middle schoolers to graduate students and everything in between. As a classical homeschooling father, I also know how important it is to provide your children with the best quality education you can. That's why I'm offering these courses. It's my goal to help bridge the gap for parents who want to offer their children the best Classical Education they can, but perhaps don't have a strong Latin background themselves. Parents, I'm here to tell you: it is possible! And I'm happy to help provide the solution. With you, the homeschooling parent, in mind I've designed these courses to be the perfect balance of flexible and hands-on. God bless.

Beginning Latin

This course is a beginner's guide to the Latin Language, using the book Latin Alive! Book 1 by Classical Academy Press. Note: book not sold with class. Live Classes will meet Mondays 2:00 - 3:00 pm September 8 - December 15

Intermediate Latin Reading Course

This class is uniquely designed for those students of Latin who have covered many grammar topics but perhaps struggle with reading and translating. In this class we will begin slowly, covering only about 30 lines of translation per week, but by the end of the year we will cover twice as much! Our texts, from Fabulae Romanae, will captivate your child’s attention and teach them the history of Rome, from its founding all the way to Caesar and Cicero. Texts come from authentic Latin authors, primarily the historian, Livy. In this book, vocabularies are provided on the page facing the Latin for ease of access. Trickier grammar topics are discussed in the book and will be explained further in grammatical videos and in class discussion. We will make use of vocabulary quizzes and exercises to reinforce topics - but the primary focus is the translation of real Latin texts. If you’ve been looking to take your child past paradigms and into real translation, this course is for you!
