Welcome!

Welcome! Latin Readings: Fabulae Romanae is a reading and translating course designed for intermediate students of Latin who already have the basics of grammar and are looking to move on to reading and translation. We will learn the history of Rome as we read through slightly adapted Roman authors such as the historian Livy. Grammar and vocabulary assistance is readily accessible in the textbook on the opposing page of each translation. Translation work is done both independently and in the online class meeting via Zoom. Certain more advanced matters of grammar (e.g. semi-deponent clauses, relative clauses, the sequence of tenses, and more) are covered in dedicated videos which students can watch on their own, pause, rewind, and rewatch as needed. Vocabulary is also emphasized and quizzed throughout the course.

Days and Times for Class Meeting on Zoom vary. Independent coursework, including translation, vocabulary study, grammar review and exercises, is to be accomplished during each week. Students should set aside dedicated time throughout the week to accomplish this.

Grade Level: High School (advanced Middle School students are welcome.)
